CDI Construction is proud to have been the general contractor for the Humanscale Showroom in Fulton Market. This project posed distinctive challenges in realizing Reddymade’s exceptional design while adhering to the rigorous standards of the Living Building Challenge 4.0. Our collaboration with Reddymade was pivotal in executing their vision, which embodies Humanscale’s dedication to sustainability and workplace comfort.
One of the key challenges we addressed was minimizing the visibility of HVAC components, a goal achieved through meticulous planning and execution. Additionally, enhancing the expansive ceilings to create an open and airy atmosphere required careful consideration and close collaboration with Reddymade. Together, we implemented a solution that not only met but exceeded expectations, ensuring superior results in achieving appropriate lighting and maintaining the integrity of the design.

This complete renovation of the Arlington Heights WomanCare office was remodeled while the tenant was in place and seeing patients. WomanCare initially occupied approximately half of this 10,000 sf space. Reconfiguration of the space, combined with all new millwork, wall covering, soffits, lighting, flooring and restroom renovations resulted in the transformation of the office into a beautiful modern space. The upgrade to the HVAC system required careful coordination with WomanCare’s patient experience, while the clean LED lighting upgrade enabled an enhanced work environment for the staff.

Equipment Depot one of the area’s largest material handling equipment suppliers needed a space to house their large inventory of machinery and parts. They found their space which included a 71,000 square foot warehouse with office space, in Romeoville, Illinois. CDI expanded the office space to include, showroom, and demonstration spaces. Essential to their show room and demonstration areas were high open ceilings and doorways to allow for movement of equipment. CDI met these requirements by installing a new black acoustic ceiling at 12’ and 10’ tall double doors. CDI installed architectural features to deliver an edgy industrial feel, including elements of acoustic baffles, hung below the ceilings and brick look acoustic panels at the upper portion of the walls.

This 6000 s.f. project combined 2 existing spaces into one space, gutting all interior conditions and starting over. DOCS required a working space, meeting the branding of the national presence. We were able to get on board early, which resulted in no material delays and a smooth construction process. We actually had doors and frames when needed for proper sequence. All millwork was custom made, to the particular requirements of the specific operations at DOCS. The MEP work was equally complicated – all new electrical panel locations, specific power for specialty equipment, and 24 new plumbing locations.

We are proud to present the completion of Heritage Crystal Clean. 34000 sf of high end technical design, completed in under 16 weeks. This project features a mixture of acoustical ceilings, open ceilings, cloud ceilings with axiom trim, archways, and converging angles. While these elements proved to be uniquely challenging, they have prize worthy results. The time constraints, coupled with material delays and complicated millwork installation challenges, resulted in an unconventional sequencing of operations, which required ultimate cooperation among all trades involved. We are proud to have had not only our PM team and supervisory personnel on site, but also CDI’s ownership involvement on a daily basis.
